Enhances listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for effective communication at the intermediate level. Intermediate course for students with basic knowledge of Spanish. Students critically examine diverse cultural perspectives. Course conducted in Spanish.

SPAN A202 Intermediate Spanish II 3 Credits
Further develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency for effective communication and in preparation for advanced study of Spanish. Continuation of first semester in intermediate Spanish. Students interpret diverse cultural perspectives. Course conducted in Spanish.
Prerequisites: SPAN A201 with a minimum grade of D.

SPAN A301 Advanced Spanish I 3 Credits
Refines listening, speaking, reading, writing, and analytical skills for effective interaction in Spanish in communicatively complex situations. Critically analyzes diverse cultural topics.

SPAN A302 Advanced Spanish II 3 Credits
Continues refining listening, speaking, reading, writing and analytical skills for effective interaction in communicatively complex situations building on the first semester in advanced Spanish. Critically analyzes diverse cultural topics.

SPAN A310 Selected Topics: Literary Trends and Traditions 3 Credits
Focuses on diverse literary traditions of multiple Spanish-speaking communities. Critical analysis applied through a variety of disciplinary methodologies (e.g. historical, cultural, artistic). Terminology is explored and developed. Enhances Spanish language skills in writing, reading, speaking, listening and cultural literacy.
Special Note: May be repeated three times for credit with a change of subtitle. Course conducted in Spanish.

SPAN A320 Studies in Contemporary Hispanic Cultures 3 Credits
Examines contemporary Hispanic cultures through various media (printed, electronic and audiovisual). Critical analysis through a variety of disciplinary methodologies (e.g., historical, cultural, artistic); terminology also explored and developed. Additionally enhances Spanish language skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening.

SPAN A490A Selected Topics: Studies in Hispanic Literature and Culture 3 Credits
Focuses on the intensive study of authors, literary movements, periods and genres in their historical and cultural contexts. Enhances Spanish language skills in reading, listening, writing, speaking and cultural literacy.
