  • 1. Campaign Coordinator (Student Associate / Intern) 鈥 Municipal Political Campaign

    馃搷 Anchorage, AK. Part-time. Flexible Scheduling 馃搯 April 2026 - April 2027

    A municipal political campaign in Anchorage is seeking a motivated Campaign Coordinator (Student Associate/Intern) to support campaign operations. Working closely with the Campaign Manager and Strategist, this role will assist with voter and donor database management, volunteer coordination, outreach efforts, event logistics, policy research, and campaign communications. The position is ideal for a college student or recent graduate interested in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field who wants hands-on experience with the inner workings of a real campaign. Compensation ranges from $1,000鈥$1,500 per month depending on availability, with potential to transition into a full-time campaign staff position as early as December 2026.

  • 2. Honors Internship Program 鈥 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

    The FBI鈥檚 Honors Internship Program (HIP) provides undergraduate and graduate students  with the opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience while working alongside FBI professionals. Interns receive challenging assignments designed to strengthen their skills, expand their professional networks, and gain exposure to federal law enforcement and intelligence operations. This paid internship is ideal for undergraduate students between their junior and senior years, as well as graduate students pursuing advanced degrees such as a master鈥檚, JD, or PhD.

    3. Summer Internship Program 鈥 Alyeska Pipeline Service Company

    Alyeska Internship ImageAlyeska Pipeline Service Company is offering paid internship opportunities for college students and recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in a variety of fields. Opportunities are available for students studying accounting, business, finance, computer science, IT, cybersecurity, engineering (civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical), environmental health and safety, chemistry, and process technology or instrumentation.

    Interns work on real projects supporting operations along the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), including the Valdez Marine Terminal. Participants are paired with mentors and supervisors who help support both technical and professional development throughout the internship. This program is administered through Alyeska鈥檚 Alaska Native Program and is open to all eligible applicants.

  • 4. Accountant 鈥 Alaska Electrical Trust Funds

    馃搷 Anchorage, AK. Full-time. Flexible Schedule.  馃搯 Available Immediately

    Alaska Electrical Trust FundsThis position is responsible for supporting accounting operations related to employee benefit plans, including preparing daily bank reconciliations, reviewing general ledger activity, assisting with financial statement preparation, and compiling materials for annual audits. The Accountant will also assist with tax filings, financial reporting, payroll and benefits-related accounting, and preparation of required regulatory forms such as Form 990 and Form 5500.

    Additional responsibilities include monitoring financial activity, preparing journal entries, assisting with board reporting materials, supporting nondiscrimination testing processes, and coordinating documentation needed for external audits.

    Qualified candidates should hold a four-year degree in accounting or have equivalent experience.

  • 5. Election Office Temporary Positions 鈥 Alaska Division of Elections

    馃搷 Anchorage, AK. Temporary. (Summer-Fall)  馃搯 May 2026

    The Alaska Division of Elections is hiring approximately 15 temporary workers to support operations during the upcoming election cycle. Positions are available within the Absentee and Petitions Office and include roles such as Absentee and Questioned Ballot Logger and Early and Absentee Voting Official.

  • Responsibilities may include receiving and logging ballots, performing data entry, and staffing early voting locations beginning approximately 15 days prior to Election Day. These positions offer valuable experience for students interested in public service, government operations, or election administration.

Internship Timeline

馃攷 Understanding the Internship Timeline

Many students assume internship recruiting happens all at once, but in reality the timeline varies widely across industries. March is often when students start wondering if they鈥檙e 鈥渂ehind,鈥 when in fact many opportunities are still opening.

  • Early Recruiting (Fall 鈥 January)
    Large corporations, finance firms, and national companies often recruit early. Many of their summer internships open in the fall and may be filled by winter. If you鈥檙e interested in these industries in the future, it鈥檚 helpful to begin searching early in the academic year.

  • Mid-Cycle Opportunities (February 鈥 April)
    Many organizations 鈥 especially regional businesses, nonprofits, and public sector employers 鈥 begin recruiting later in the spring once budgets and project needs are finalized. This is when a large number of internship postings appear on platforms like Handshake.

  • Late Openings (April 鈥 May)
    Some opportunities appear even later due to staffing changes, project funding, or organizations realizing they could benefit from intern support. These roles can sometimes be less competitive simply because fewer students are still searching.

  • What This Means for You
    If you haven鈥檛 secured an internship yet, March is still a very active time in the recruiting cycle. Continue checking listings, refining your application materials, and reaching out to employers or professors about potential opportunities. Persistence and timing both play a role in the internship search
